Why Gutter Cleanings are Important

Prevents Clogs

When debris like leaves, sticks, and pinecones accumulate in your gutter system, the gutter system is likely going to become clogged. These clogs will block the flow of water, resulting in water backups, overflow, and damage to many areas of your home. The main areas of your home that are in danger from clogged gutters are your exterior wall materials such as siding, brick, and stucco. Two other major concerns are your roof and the foundation of the home. Hiring our team to perform a professional gutter cleaning on your gutters ensures a clear pathway for water to be safely directed from the roof, into the gutter system, and away from your home.

Prevents Pest Infestation

As you know, when your gutters are full of debris, it blocks the flow of water which leads to it pooling and becoming stagnant. This is a perfect environment for pests like mice, birds, and mosquitoes as the gutter system has everything they need to live… food, water, and shelter. Not only do these pests cause damage to your gutter systems, but they can also become a safety hazard for your loved ones, or work their way into your home. Ensuring your gutters are clean, you take away the lovely environment these pests need to thrive.

Ensures Long-Term Durability

With the right gutter systems in place such as our seamless gutter systems, you should be able to get at least 30 years out of them. But that is only if proper maintenance is employed throughout its entire lifespan. Making sure your gutters are cleaned 1-2 times a year will ensure efficient water flow year round. This reduces the risks of clogs and pest infestations which can cause serious damage to your gutter system.

Our Gutter Cleaning Process

Step 1 – Remove Debris

The gutter cleaning process begins with our team thoroughly cleaning out all debris from the gutters themselves, and the downspouts. We use safe, professional techniques to ensure your gutter system doesn’t get damaged during the process. The downspouts are a big part that gets missed when homeowners clean their own gutters, and just like water can’t flow if the gutters are clogged, the same thing goes for the downspouts. We use special tools to push all debris out of the downspouts. As we pull the debris out of your gutters, they are immediately bagged up, not thrown in your yard and flower beds.

Step 2 – Flush the Gutters

This second step is done right after step one. When all the debris is pulled out of the gutter system, that doesn’t mean the gutters are spotlessly clean, they still usually have mud and things like that stuck to the inside of the gutters. We like to flush out the entire system and ensure we get all leftover debris that was either missed during step one or stuck to the inside of the gutters.

Step 2 – Final Inspection/Cleanup

Now the final step, our gutter cleaning team does a full inspection of your gutter system looking for weak or damaged areas that may need to be repaired. This part is important because it is crucial to find minor issues and fix them before they turn into major headaches and cause damage to your home. If we find any damage that needs to be addressed, we will let you know what the damage is, and how much it would cost to have our team come out and get that repaired for you.

Once we have finished our inspection, we end the job with a detailed cleanup inspection ensuring that your yard looks just like it did before we got there. Then, we do one final walk around the home with the homeowner making sure they are satisfied with the completed job.
